The Antlers - I’m Hibernating

If you have followed this blog for anytime you would be aware of my love for The Antlers. Hospice was my favorite album of 2009, a collection of songs that I found claustrophobic and frightening. Peter, the lead singer and songwriter, said it was an album about knowing your life is off track in someway and trying to pull yourself out of that hole, to find some kind of redemption. I liked the idea of bootstrapping yourself out of a bad place.

That being said I am not a huge fan of some of his earlier work, it was sparse and empty and I just can’t really get into space pop. What I did not know (embarassingly!) was that Peter made a folk album in 2007 while he was in the process of moving to New York. And it turns out it is pretty great!
