It was pretty awesome watching Taylor learn how to snowboard recently. I had just come in from a few runs and was itching for a beer and some rest, but Tay had just finished her lesson and was anxious for everyone to come see her.
I grabed my camera and gloves and pushed out into the sub zero afternoon. Walking across the base of the mountain to the bunny slope I realized that every person in my family had learned to ski on this exact slope. It was probably only 20 years ago that I was dragging Mark away from his lunch to watch me nervously make my way down the hill.
The scary thing is, she is pretty good. She didn’t fall, she could turn and by the second day she was getting off the lifts.
This is just one of the many little moments I have had recently where I realize Tay is getting older. She gets when I am being sarcastic, she calls me on the phone, I mean shit she emails me from her iPod a couple times a week.
I think I will always remember this picture though, Mark grabbing her under the arms and running her up the mountain again and again, her smiling and proud in front of her family and us all a little amazed.
